Reiki (pronounced "ray-key") is an ancient oriental technique
for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing.
It means "universal life force," and works on the field
of energy all around the body. Reiki can be an effective pain and
stress reliever as well as being a helpful adjunct to more conventional
medical, psychological, or spiritual care.
Reiki feel like a warm, glowing radiance that flows through and
around you. It encourages healing on all levels: physical, emotional,
and spiritual. Often, the sources of physical dis-ease can be found
at the emotional or spiritual levels. Reiki is a powerful means
for:
- Supporting the body's natural ability to heal itself;

- Re-balancing the energy centers in the body;

Reiki is administered through hand placements on or just above the
body. It is based on the idea that an unseen life force or energy
flows through us. If that life force is depleted, blocked or unbalanced,
we are more likely to get sick or feel stressed.
Reiki promotes healing on all levels—physical, mental, emotional
and spiritual. It also works with other medical or therapeutic techniques
to relieve side effects and promote recovery. Reiki is a simple,
natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement
that everyone can use.
Reiki is noninvasive and involves light touch on a fully-clothed
body, but it is very effective. It evokes deep relaxation, which
can facilitate spiritual healing, and can help integrate body, mind,
